I'd missed the news that the British Government are going to have to work out what to do with a new ECHR ruling noting that the UK needs to give prisoners the vote.I read an occasional blog by "AnneDroid", a Chaplain at two British prisons, and she has some interesting reflections on this. One excerpt:

Britain has traditionally smugly seen itself as being one of the "good guys" in terms of human rights but must walk the walk as well as talking the talk. If China can be giving prisoners the right to vote, who are we to cast aspersions on their human rights record whilst being so proud of our own?
